Christ the King – Thoughts from the Edge

In our wider culture each year ends with a celebration on New Year’s Eve. Following the Christian Calendar the year end is marked with a hope-filled celebration on Christ the King Sunday. For we who follow the way of Jesus, or as my friend Lance recently referred to himself as a “Jesusian”, the celebration of Christ the King is an embodied acknowledgment Jesus not only announced and inaugurated the Kingdom of God but will also complete the fulfillment of God’s Kingly reign upon his return to set the world to right. The Gospel – Good News – is precisely that in Jesus God reconciles the world to himself. He did so by his life, death and resurrection as our Messiah – our King.
