The NBA and the rest of us were taken by storm when the tape recording of Donald Sterling‘s comments were leaked. In the words of Los Angeles Clippers’ coach Doc Rivers, who was interviewed on ESPN and aired late last night, “We had heard the stories. Now we had proof.” Rivers was not intimating that he or anyone was out looking for proof of alleged racism. What had been debated in court filings and lawsuits had been confessed. The only debate left is how Stiviano, Sterling’s girlfriend confidant mistress archivist friend, claims Sterling is not a racist.

Our attention here in Flyover Country, a.k.a. Oklahoma, turns to the Clippers tonight as the Western Conference Semifinals gets underway with Game 1 at The Peake. Yes, I will be in attendance, thanks to Jim and Ginny.

Over the weekend I saw a Fox Sports video posted on Facebook encapsulating the fantastic story of Caron Butler. There are many things that caught my attention in the video. We even chatted after watching the video last night in our evening Bible Study at Snow Hill. The power of story, connecting our story with a larger narrative, and the themes that easily point to redemption, grace and mercy served for great conversations.

Before he sets foot on the floor this evening, Caron Butler wins. Take the time to watch this story.
