Patty and I rushed to the hospital to hear Nan repeatedly say, “That was so stupid.” Now you may have read here a couple of weeks ago where I walked right into a sliding glass door. Now that may have been stupid. We all have missed steps. Not everyone has walked into a glass door!
I thought to myself how we interpret events. Nan, at 92, is anything but stupid.
A couple of days later I took this photo sitting next to her in her room. There it was. I never noticed it before. Children make fun of how others look. Sometimes we do this to feel better about our own flaws. Other times we are just plain mean. I have a distinct nose. Not like my late Uncle Dick. But, distinct in its own way. Our oldest daughter shares this feature and wears it quite beautifully. Looking at my Nan sleeping there it was, “That’s my nose!”
Sure this is quite silly. But reflecting on her life and the imprint she and my late “Big Paw” have made on me it was nice to think of one more way God connected us.
Pray for my Nan. She is doing better. She did break/fracture her pelvis and the road ahead will be long. But, she is quite the determined one and who knows, she may feel like making her famous cole slaw, peach cobbler or dressing by Christmas.
