Swept Into Its Flow – Monday’s Video for the Week

“I feel like to read the Bible you have to lay out several translations, include a bible dictionary, and maybe a commentary.” That was the sentiment expressed in a recent Bible Study group with a great group of young people of which I am glad to be a part at Snow Hill. Unfortunately, this sentiment tends to undermine an interest in the Scriptures.

Last week’s “Weekly Video” featured Dallas Willard who noted how some studies and interests do not appeal to everyone in a local faith community. Often it is a matter of time. He referred to the need we have for each other and how that is filled up in the fellowship of Christians as, “a division of labor that really works in the church.”

This week’s video, in the right sidebar, features N.T. Wright who describes beings swept up in the flow of God’s story in the Scriptures. Surely it will produce an interest to study further. Wright notes a sadness that too few Christians have read any portion of Scripture in its entirety. That is, moving beyond reading this or that ten verses and reading the Gospel of John, or Isaiah, or Genesis-Exodus in a sitting.

Good encouragement for those who have been led to believe that reading the Scripture is only successful with multiple translations on hand and a word-study to boot.
