When It Rains It Pours

We often talk of where we might add a water fall to our landscape. Last night after we received another 4.5″ of rain we only need to look west. The acreage west of our property is home to a number of cow-calf pairs. Terraces run at just the right angle so waterfall sheds through our flower bed and into our natural drainage ditch. When the rain falls as it did overnight the additional flow into our drainage ditch backs water up quite a distance. So much so last night that when I opened the front door at 5:00 a.m. this morning for a moment I thought we owned lake front property. Click over to my flickr photos and you will find a number of shots illustrating just what happens when the drought is over.
