Careful reflection a key to following Jesus …

Over breakfast this morning I listened as Nathan and Jason discussed the upcoming youth retreat. The topic explored for these days of “getaway” will be, “Studying the Bible.” One of the sessions will deal with “meditating on Scripture.” Jason hopes young people will come to understand the great value of “reflection” on their reading.

We all will not make our way to Eureka Springs for this retreat. Yet, we all may learn “careful reflection” is key to following Jesus. Careful reflection implies a willingness to consider life with intentionality. Refelction carries the understanding of taking a second look. Carefully looking at life enables us to see the activity of God in and around us, helps us view circumstances and experiences as “transformative” events in the hands of God, and compels us on the journey to see Christ formed in us.

I will be carefully reflecting today.
