Friday Photos – Sights at the Top

Mount Campbell does not rank among the 14-ers in Colorado. But, compared to the 1319′ elevation of Tuttle, Oklahoma, the nearly 11,000′ peak might as well be.

I still remember my college roommate, Allan Karr, talking about Colorado and how he would one day live there. He does, in Larkspur. Allan brought back photographs of his camping trip in the mountains. Beautiful. It would be years later before Patty and I took our first trip to Colorado, to Creede. We fell in love with the beauty the minute we turned west on Hwy. 149 at Walsenburg.

We rented a Jeep that year and explored the off-roads. Each year we have been able to return, we find a different road or trail. We recently returned from a trip. I wrote about it Monday. This year we drove our Jeep and rented a second to accommodate us all.

We explored Bachelor Loop and No.502. From what I can tell from the maps we were indeed on Mt. Campbell. We could see for miles in every direction. Here are a few sights from the top.

Enjoy!
