Long Pew – Friday Photo

Pews. Bare. Padded. I grew up attending a church with pews. They were padded. Three sections of them. I never really noticed how long the pews were but I do not think they were nearly as long as those in the Sanctuary of St. Monica’s. The architecture at St. Monica’s demonstrated a thoughtfulness and traditional sense of creativity.

I could not get over how long the pews were. Not padded. Extraordinarily long. Beautiful setting.

We were blessed to attend a Greek Orthodox service on Palm Sunday this year while we were in Florida. It was beautiful. And the first time I’d been on a pew in a long time. I was surprised by the warm feeling of nostalgia that swept over me…
